In the world today many people are very fearful. Christians and non-Christians alike have succumbed to a life of fear instead of faith. However, this is the time to show the world that we live by faith and not by sight. By this, I am not implying that you should not take the necessary precautions. I try to. I wear a mask, social distance and wash my hands frequently. This is not due to fear or “obedience” but rather, understanding and being cautious of what is going on. I have lost enough friends to think otherwise.
Despite what is happening in the world today with COVID-19 I choose to look at what God is really doing. He is on the move! I will not let fear stop me from what God has called us to do because as Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 6:16b “woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” It is our duty, and we will not stop. No one has told us not to preach the Gospel. We only need to think in creative ways to do so.
Do not miss out on what God is doing! Let us look at the Scriptures to see what happens when we place fear over faith.
1. Faith removes the blinders.
Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the Lord.’ ”So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage. Exodus 6:6-9
This passage of Scripture speaks volumes to what is happening today. Here the Israelites received a powerful prophetic word from God, but they did not believe it. The Bible tells us why: “but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.” They were in bondage for so long they could not see their breakthrough.
You may feel like you are in a dark tunnel. Sometimes you think that because of lockdown there is nothing that you can do. I want to encourage you; your breakthrough is here. God is moving. He is on your side. There is no reason to fear!
2. Faith takes your eyes off your problems to see what God is doing.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10
We are carriers of God’s Presence. I believe that many have forgotten or are not aware of this. We are carriers of God’s Presence. God wants us to carry out His will on the earth. We are in this world for something much bigger than ourselves. It is our responsibility that God’s Presence manifests here on earth.
This is amazing! God has us on earth so that we can be His representatives. He told us to declare and call down Heaven to earth. His prayer was that we would pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. His Presence is inside of us so we must release it to the world!
Right now, we are in the midst of COVID-19. This should not frighten us but rather allow us to rise in faith. We can shine as lights knowing that Jesus Christ is the anchor of our hope. We look to Heaven and see that God is moving currently.
Lift your eyes and see that God is on the move. He has never stopped. COVID-19 did not catch Him by surprise! You can read about the move of God in Guatemala in my last blog.
Conclusion:
It is time that we put faith over fear. God is moving; let us make sure we are following Him. Put your eyes on Jesus. When our eyes are on Him our hope is sure. You can not be shaken!
