Your Life Can Change-Decide Today!

Many times, we want to make up excuses on why we can’t change. We make our life situation seem so impossible that it’s just not possible for us. We say that Jesus has set us free, but we don’t live in the freedom that He has given us. Usually, it’s just excuses. We can be free, we just don’t want to change.

God is calling us higher. He wants to completely transform your life! Let’s stop holding on to sins that we don’t need to. Stop making excuses for yourself and your sins. Jesus’ grace has given us the ability to live a life of freedom. Your life can change!

Sometimes we even like to cover things up saying that ‘maybe it’s my thorn in the flesh’ that Paul talked about (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). One makes up excuses on why they can’t be free. Most of the time, it’s one doesn’t want to be free. We say we do, but in our heart, we enjoy sin and cover it up.

Today I want you to see that first, YOU ARE FREE! Jesus said, “if the Son makes you free you are free indeed.” (John 8:37) Jesus didn’t come into your life to partly set you free. He came to do a complete work in you. We know this verse and have quoted it many times but now like all other Scripture we must walk it out.

In this blog we will look at three things we need to do to walk in freedom. These aren’t the ‘good works’ that I talked about in my last blog. These are strategies to help you walk closer to Jesus. As we do, we will see greater freedom in our lives. The chains are already broken!

Your Life Will Change as You Speak differently

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

When we speak there is power. You can either speak words of life or death over yourself and your situation. I’m sure you would choose to speak life. I think a lot of Christians still don’t understand this truth. We don’t realize how much power our words carry. God lives in you and when He speaks things happen.

Here we see that we will eat the fruits of what we say. In other words, be careful what you say because it will come to pass. If you want your situation to change you must speak life. Change the words you have been saying. Stop saying things like “I can’t, It’s too hard, There’s no way”

My wife and I live in an area where there are many poor people. Lots of times we see that they are in that position because of the way they speak. They say that they are poor. They declare it over themselves and even believe that they will always be poor. For this reason, they cannot become free and see the riches of Christ.

Sin in your life often doesn’t leave, not because you aren’t free, rather you don’t speak life over yourself. You say you’re trapped and you can’t get free. You need to speak life. Speak what God’s Word says about you. Learn who you are in Christ. Once again, remember, if the Son sets you free you are free indeed.

God has given you the tools you need to walk out the freedom you already have. Take the offense, don’t be passive about what you need to change. Allow Jesus to live through you. Speak the words He speaks about you. You are free!!

Your Life Will Change by Renewing Your Mind

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

As you need to speak differently, you also need to think differently. It’s not enough just to speak it if you don’t believe it. God’s Word must get inside of you. You should see yourself the way God sees you.

We have trained our minds to think in the way of this world system. Often, we have thoughts of failure, depression, defeat, etc. Most of us have been trained to think negatively. However, as we renew our mind through God’s Word we think the way God does. God thinks positively. He wants you to think that way too.

The more you think that you can’t be free or have your breakthrough, the more the enemy has you bound. If he can bind your mind, he’s got you where he wants you. The good news is that you have power over the enemy (Luke 10:19). Meditate on God’s Word and you will no longer be failure minded, but rather, success oriented.

Don’t let your thoughts hold you back. Allow God’s truth to enter deep into your spirit. Change the way you think, and it will change the way you live. The more you meditate on God’s Word the more you will see God’s freedom in your life.

Your Life Will Change when You Let Go of Pride

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:6, 7

Although we don’t like to, we often must deal with our pride. Our flesh doesn’t want to do the things that God tells us to do and, so we show our pride. We think that we know better. Any command that God gives us is for our benefit. It will help us. Our lives will be better by being obedient to what He says.

Here the Bible says that we must do two things for the devil to flee from us. We must first submit to God and then resist the devil. Once we do these two steps the Bible declares that he, the devil, WILL flee from you. The problem isn’t that the devil won’t flee. He WILL if we do the first two things first, SUBMIT and RESIST.

We like to blame the devil for many things. We complain about how the devil is attacking us and making us do things that we don’t want to do. However, it’s not the devil but rather our flesh. We are too proud to submit to God and resist the devil. This is the reason that he won’t flee.

If you want to see victory in your life you will need to submit and resist. These tie in with what we have been talking about, changing the way we speak and renewing our mind. If we want to experience the true freedom that we have, we will have to walk these things out. Yes, our freedom is in Christ, we need to walk it out.

Recognize the Power That’s in You

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Christ from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11

God’s Spirit lives on the inside of you! You have great potential. You were made for something more than what you are currently living. There is a miraculous power on the inside of you. Allow it to come out of you to reach a lost and dying world.

There are so many more Scriptures that talk about God’s power on the inside of you. Meditate on these daily and recognize His Spirit on the inside of you. Colossians 1:27; 2 Corinthians 4:7

Stop making excuses on why your life isn’t changing or why you can’t get rid of a certain habitual sin. Take God’s truth and apply it to your life. Allow God to transform your life. You will never be the same again!
